about this product
the d.a.r.e. (dynamic audio reactor expansion) is an improved version of the original audio reactor, built to take advantage of the mismatcher delux ii's new cv capabilities. the original audio reactor toggles effects when the sound reaches a set threshold. the d.a.r.e. brings continuous control, letting the intensity of your effects follow the changing volume of the incoming audio.
an onboard microphone lets your visuals react to the sound in the room, without needing an audio cable. for a direct connection, use the aux input. a selector switch lets you choose between the two sources.
four controls let you shape the response. gain adjusts the sensitivity to the incoming sound. attack sets how quickly the response builds up as the sound gets louder, while decay sets how quickly it falls back down as the sound fades. offset shifts the base level of the control signal, adjusting the starting point of the modulation.
use a fast attack and short decay for sharp reactions to drum hits, or increase the attack and decay for slower, smoother changes. these controls let you adapt the response to your audio source and the kind of movement you want in your effects.
the d.a.r.e. can be combined with the switch board and wiper, keeping your existing expansion setup available while adding dynamic audio control.

- Do i need to connect an external audio source?
- no. the onboard microphone can pick up the sound around the device. if you prefer a direct audio feed, connect your source to the aux input and select it with the input switch.
- Can i adjust how long the effects react to each sound?
- yes. attack controls how quickly the response builds, and decay controls how long it takes to fall back down. a longer decay lets the response linger between sounds, while a shorter decay follows individual hits more closely.
